      @jadler1969 @espinsegall @MatthewStiegler Agree with escalatory retaliation narrative in gen, but context of Dem filibuster move was not just ordinary tit(+1)-for-tat politics of GOP not scheduling votes on Clinton noms, but to singular event of Bush v Gore (legitimacy of Bush being in position to make appointments).

    @jadler1969 @espinsegall @MatthewStiegler (Insofar as that was a justification, however, I don't think it carries over to their decision to continue filibuster tactics after Bush unambiguously won the 2004 election.)
