I did not threaten to resign. But let us just say we are here to talk about external threats, and Eddie Gallagher is not one of them."

But he's now resigned, saying he won't obey an order from Trump that violates his oath to uphold the Constitution. (Esper meanwhile saying you can't resign on principle bc I'm the one ousting you.)
