      When @IgnatiusPost reports on 1/12 that Flynn had talked to Kislyak and undercut Obama's election-interference sanctions against Russia, Trump was angry. Flynn gets the message to kill the story. Flynn starts lying whether they discussed sanctions, including to Priebus and Pence.

        After Priebus & Pence pass on that false denial to the public, FBI agents on the Trump-Russia investigation, who know about the reality of the calls, interview Flynn on 1/24. He denies discussing keeping the sanctions response reciprocal and receiving feedback from Moscow.

            To settle his legal troubles for these false statements, as well as for not registering as a paid foreign agent of Turkey & lying about that work on belated FARA forms, Flynn agreed to cooperate and struck a deal. He twice pled guilty to one count of making a false statement.

              In January, Flynn sought to withdraw his guilty plea and said in a sworn statement that what he had told the court before under oath was false. He said instead that he had not remembered, when the FBI interviewed him, whether they discussed sanctions or the UN vote.
