        He did not get into whether Judge Cannon could end up overseeing the trial if charges were brought in Florida, but I did some research out of curiosity. Any such case would be randomly assigned, but Trump's lawyers could ask the new judge to transfer it to her under this rule. /3

          Because the 11th Circuit directed Judge Cannon to dismiss the lawsuit entirely (even though Trump recently asked her to address another issue), it appears there will soon not be any materially related matter pending before her that could trigger this rule. /end
