Last fall, the chief clerk of FLSD court told me that under its rules, any indictment is randomly assigned, not automatically given to a judge who handled a related lawsuit.       Update: I now think the relevant pool was 7 active judges (& 3 senior status judges who still hear cases) who sit in MAL's West Palm Beach division & neighboring Ft Pierce & Ft Lauderdale. Judges with chambers only in Miami wouldn't be in the random assignment wheel.
