I realize it's a bit late to be talking about Netflix's "Ozark," but despite the great cast, it is amazing that a show about money laundering got produced in which nobody in the writer's room understood how money laundering works.

In $ laundering, you attribute fake *revenue* to a legit cash business & pay taxes on it, allowing you to then safely bank/spend it. The show instead has Marty creating fake *expenses,* pretending he paid for more HVACs, carpets, lumber etc than he actually bought. Ass-backward.
